Synology’s solutions are made to be accessible with all three major platforms – Windows, Mac and Linux. You will be able to access DiskStation via any operating system on your PC, Mac or laptop.

  • FTP, SMB and WebDAV are supported on all three platforms
  • Access unique protocols on each platform - SMB/CIFS (Windows My Network Places) for Windows, AFP for Mac and NFS for Linux
  • With UTF-8 protocol support, files coded in different languages can be accurately read and shared across all operating systems

Network Recycle Bin

Deleting an important file accidentally will no longer be regretful experience. With Recycle Bin enabled, files deleted in a shared folder will be automatically moved into a shared folder. The Recycle Bin feature is now supported on AFP, CIFS, File Station, WebDAV protocol.
