Each Active Backup for Office 365 license pack offers 10 licenses1, providing a 1-year subscription once activated. Each user account on Office 365 that wishes to be backed up requires a license. Office 365 OneDrive for Business and shared mailboxes do not require licenses.
Each Synology NAS that supports Active Backup for Office 365 comes with 10 free licenses.
A subscription can be renewed when its expiration is within 30 days, and the licenses for renewal will be activated automatically when the previous subscription cycle ends. A 30-day grace period will be given to the subscription that is not yet renewed once it has expired. During this period, users with licenses can continue to back up and restore even when their subscription expires. When the grace period ends, only data restoration is permitted.
A Synology NAS will enter a 30-day grace period once the license seat count has been surpassed. During the grace period, 20% of exceeded user accounts are allowed to be backed up and restored. When the grace period ends, those users without licenses will only be permitted to perform data restoration.
Migrating a license subscription from one Synology NAS to another NAS2 is permitted with a valid Active Backup for Office 365 subscription. A license subscription can only be imported to one Synology NAS at a time; once imported, the license subscription will be revoked from the original server.
